Meet the Foxman Family. They put the 'FUN' in dysFUNctional as they gather to sit shiva for their departed dad. The four children and their mother set up a mourning shop in the family home for seven days. During that period, you get to know the family, their spouses, old (and new) flames and even the Rabbi in charge of shiva. The author manages to merge together their past with the present. Though death brings them together, this novel is full of funny situations along with moments of reflection and insight.
Not only is this book ready for the big screen in September (2014), author Jonathan Tropper has more of his books being adapted into movies. This is Where I Leave You stars Jason Bateman as the book's main character. Tina Fey plays the sister and Jane Fonda plays the mother.
Served at shiva:
Loaded turkey bagels, Corned beef on rye, Cheese, pretzels and Lemon bundt cake
