Gap Creek by Robert Morgan

Moderator---Shellie

The setting is Appalachia and the time spans a year between 1899 and 1900.  This Oprah Book Club pick is the story of a young couple's first year of marriage.  The year is dominated with both hard work and heartbreak.  You get a very real feel for what makes up the day to day life in rural America at the turn of last century.

Food:
Fried chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, taters, string beans and coconut cake

"A great look at another time."---Shellie

"Informative, but not believable."---Kim
