One Thousand White Women by Jim Fergus

A potent blend of fact and fiction, this is the story of white women marrying into the Cheyenne tribe.  The setting is the post Civil War American West.  Manifest Destiny and Indian Removal are at the heart of the novel.  To help bridge the two, the U.S. government agrees to a secret 'Brides for Indians' program with the Cheyenne.  May Dodd, one of the brides, tells the story through her journal entries.

Prairie chicken, Indian corn, Redskin potatoes, cole slaw, brides white wedding bread, grooms strawberry/chocolate drizzled cake
