Published over 60 years ago, this is the story of an ordinary woman's extraordinary life. Taken prisoner in WWII by the Japanese in Malaya, she meets an Aussie captive who tries to help her but is crucified when caught. At the end of the war, she returns to England to meet a solicitor who has funds for her from an uncle's will. He looks out for her and helps mold her future even when it means losing her to her past and the Aussie captive who captured her heart.
