A group of women and one man meet in a court-ordered therapy group. The therapist seems to have her own questionable baggage. The group starts gathering after the sessions in a bar owned by the mother of one of the women. Every member of the group has had a cheating spouse and sought some form of revenge. The mutual judge in all their divorce proceedings used those various actions to force them into counseling. (You might remember from Waiting to Exhale what a woman scorned is capable of !)
But, love still finds a way into the story as the group works their way through the divorce proceedings and rely on each other for moral support. The main characters include a teacher, a reporter, the wife of a plastic surgeon, owner of a small theme park and a life-style blogger. The setting is Florida.
The books' author, once a reporter, covered the real-life murder trials that are the subject of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. She also has a mystery series under her real name of Kathy Hogan Trocheck.
